The 4-in-1Ocean Combo.
One morning on the water, four stops: the areas where manta rays gather, where nurse sharks gather, where turtles feed, and a sandbank with nothing on it. Included once in every Madi package, for two adults.
We know where to look. The rest is up to the ocean.
So we never promise a sighting.
One morning, four stops.
Out past the reef before the wind gets up.
North Ari Atoll is where they gather.
You snorkel. They do whatever they are doing. When it happens it is the thing people talk about for the rest of the week.
Then a sandbank, out in open water.
This is the stop nobody expects to be their favourite.
The four stops.
-
Manta rays
North Ari Atoll is one of the places in the Maldives they are known to gather.
-
Nurse sharks
Large, slow, entirely uninterested in you. The first sight of one is more alarming than it should be and the second is not alarming at all.
-
Turtles
Feeding areas rather than a single spot. Turtles are the most reliable of the three, which is not the same as guaranteed.
-
A sandbank
A bank of sand out in open water, away from the island and away from everything else.
The honest part
Sightings are never guaranteed.
Manta rays, nurse sharks and turtles are wild animals in open ocean. They move with the season, the current, the plankton and the weather.
We take you to the areas they are known to gather, at the time of day they are most often there, with people who are on that water constantly and know what it is doing.
Some mornings you see all three. Some mornings you see one, and a sandbank you did not want to leave. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something they cannot deliver.
The route can change on the day too. If the sea is wrong for one stop we go somewhere better rather than somewhere worse.
What comes with it.
The photographs matter more than they sound. Most people do not have a camera they can take under water, and the images from the morning are usually the ones that end up being kept.
- Underwater photographs and video from the trip
- 360° camera footage
- Fresh fruit and snacks on board
- Music on the boat
Once during your stay.
On the morning that best suits the weather and the sea. We watch the forecast across your stay and tell you the day before.
One 4-in-1 Ocean Combo is included per package, not once per day.
This is the single most common misunderstanding about the offer, so it is worth being blunt: one morning, not one every day. A longer stay gives us more mornings to choose from, not more excursions.
If you want to go out again, we arrange it.
Other trips we arrangeWho runs the boats.
The boats are run by Madi Excursion. It is a separate business from the guesthouse, with its own operation and its own reviews. We do not pretend to run boats ourselves.
When you book a package with us, we book you onto their trip and it appears in your package price rather than as an extra.
What to bring.
Sunscreen, something to cover your shoulders, and a towel. Swimwear is fine on the boat and at the sandbank. On Ukulhas itself, swimwear belongs on the bikini beach and not elsewhere on the island. The Ukulhas guide covers what that means.
You should be comfortable swimming in open water. Tell us in advance if anyone in your group is not a confident swimmer and we will talk it through honestly before you commit.
It is already in the price.
The excursion is one of four things every package includes, alongside your room, breakfast and both speedboat journeys.
Total package price for two adults. Includes all applicable taxes and service charges.
Compare all three packagesBefore you ask
Questions about the morning.
Will we definitely see manta rays?
No. We know where they gather and we take you there, but nobody can promise wildlife. That applies to the nurse sharks and turtles too.
How many times is it included?
Once per package, whatever the length of your stay.
How long does the morning take?
It is a morning trip rather than a full day. We confirm the timing with you the evening before, once we know the conditions.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We move it to a better morning. That is the main reason we schedule it during your stay rather than on a fixed day.
Can children come?
Ask us. The prices shown are for two adults, and we want to talk through ages, swimming confidence and equipment properly rather than sell you a place and sort it out on the jetty.
Can we do a second excursion?
Yes, and plenty of guests do. Sunset fishing, sandbank days, island hopping, diving with one of the island’s centres. Ask when you are here. What we arrange.
Do we get the photos?
Yes. Underwater photographs, video and 360° footage from the morning.
Ask us anything about the morning.
It is already in your package. If you want to know how the morning runs before you book, ask. We would rather answer it now than have you find out on the boat.
